We have this neighbour who walks around early garbage day morning with a cart and goes thru everyone's recycling bins and cashes in. We know who it is - should we say something?
In the big picture it's not that big of a deal. Unless you can put it out right before it's picked up, someone is going to do it if it's not him. Give him a backhanded compliment about what he's doing and see how he reacts. Something like, "Geez, you must be making a killing off of the recycling."
Don't know about Canadian Law, but here in CA, it's illegal to go through someone's trash and pick out the recycling. It's called "stealing".
There used to be some guy that would go through our recycling, and it bothered me. But I never had the nerve to confront him... He knew where I lived, and could be a real wacko... I mean, he goes through the trash!! Luckily, I haven't seen or heard him last few months, so the situation kind of took care of itself.
Hi Mel ... I think if it's only the recycling he's going through and he's not harming anyone ... then in the big grand scheme of things ... "yeah for him" b/c at least someone is getting some money out of it. Plus in all honestly, if he's making some honest money for himself and his family ... then good for him b/c better the recycling than something else.
